On the 30th of June 1942 I was born into a working-class family in Battersea – London (Close to the iconic power station).
During my school years I studied for GCE “O” and “A” level. I was a school prefect, then head boy and captain of the school football team.

I was and am an avid supporter of Chelsea Football Club - CFC.

On leaving school I served a five-year apprenticeship in the electrical industry with “Redifon” manufacturers of radar equipment for the royal navy and flight simulators for the airline industry.

After that I worked for a year with LTB – London Transports, who offered free driving lessons and all the overtime possible driving a double decker around the streets of London, a change from five years working in a factory.
During that time, I followed up on an advert by 3M for a Sales Engineer to work on microfilm and copy equipment sold to various companies in Southern England, I applied and got the job.

In 1973 I with my family migrated to New Zealand and in my fifty years here have had several jobs both technical and sales related. I just love New Zealand and am proud to be part of Rotary and the great people in it.
