I am a Matamata born and bred local, although I did escape overseas and to the bright lights of Auckland for a number of years. I have 2 sons, Jake who is 27 and currently living in Toronto and Luke, 25, a project manager in Auckland. My partner, John and I live on 15 acres just on the outskirts of town.
I own and operate Mitre 10 Matamata which keeps me pretty busy, and I am also involved in various other local organisations in the town.
My father joined Rotary in 1968, so it has always been part of my life.  And of course it was my father who encouraged me to join.  I have been a member of Rotary Matamata for 6 years now and really enjoy the fellowship and friendship of our club.  During my membership, Rotary have been involved in some pretty special events and fundraisers, but probably the most memorable, to date, was our first Concert by the Lake, where our members had tirelessly turned a portion of a fellow members farm, into an outdoor concert venue. We not only had an amazing afternoon of musical entertainment but were able to raise considerable funds for Starfish Social Services in town.
We have an incredible group of members who happily give their time and efforts to support those in need both locally and internationally. But it’s not all about service, we have also have heaps of fun and get to enjoy the company of other like-minded people.
Come and join us!!
