I was 30 years old when I joined Rotary Matamata and it was a decision I have never regretted. Even though I was the youngest member for some years, our membership today is now much more diverse in all areas.
Currently I am the General Manager of The Boltholder Ltd, a family-owned and operated local business which has been supplying fasteners to 2500 customers nationwide for more than three decades. Prior to this, I spent 12 years working in the media, primarily as a sports journalist.
I have a Bachelor in Communication Studies and a certificate in Small Business Management.

Rotary has played a huge role in my personal development – giving me far more opportunities for growth than I could have ever imagined. I have been president of our club (2015-16), chaired the District Conference team in 2018, held a number of District roles and am currently (2019-22) the assistant governor for Area 3, covering Matamata, Cambridge, Putaruru and Tokoroa.
At club level, I thrive on projects and tend to like being at the forefront of project concept, management and running. Rotary is like anything in life – you get out what you put in but I can honestly say that Rotary has given me far more than I could put back in and for that I am truly grateful.
Rotary is world-leading in its work for humankind. If you would like to join the Rotary journey, just take that first leap of faith, come to a meeting because you won’t regret it.
