David Hulme as our new Sergeant, opened the meeting and welcomed our new President Jane Belton. As Jane stepped up to speak, she was rudely (Jane's words) interrupted by Vice President Wade Linnell, who quickly rushed off into the side room and brought out a specially crafted step for Jane to stand on so that she was the correct height for microphone...... Love it.
Jane thanked everyone for the great costume effort for the changeover... outlined her goals for the year and thanked David for his great work as Assistant Governor for the last 4 years.
David then held a fine session and man did he have some great fines.... well done David
David then outlined two new weekly segments to his Sergeant session.... first one is the Good Sorts - Creating Hope in the World, where a member is picked for their great work in the club or community and awarded the pot plant award.... their name will be written on the pot and at our last meeting for 2023 the Mother in Laws Tongue, will be presented to the person who’s name appears on the list the most.
The second is where David will find out three things about a member that nobody in club knows, a member will be picked, given the three clues and given a week to research and try to find out who the member is. The following week the member will be asked to say who they think the clues refer too... and will be fined if they get it wrong.
Sounds like we are off to a roaring start!
A BIG shout out to David Parker and his great team of helpers who have been working hard on the Kauri Grove on Burwood Road. They are making a fantastic difference to the area, so if you can help out, watch your emails for the next clean up day or contact David directly and let him know you can help.
