Peter V advised dog park ready but wait there's more... a dog park designer will do a design free for Rotary.

We are all still keeping Michelle T and Mike S in our thoughts as they recover. Sheryl advised Charmaine has been quite unwell too after spending four days in hospital. She is home alone so visitors welcome. Kevin S said that wife Mary had a fall and broke her tibia, hopefully she will heal quickly.

David H reminded of email (25/5) about regionalisation, please read this email prior to him discussing this subject in couple of weeks time.

"It's nice to be important.... but more important to be nice"
according to Robert Stuart

Our 2021-22 Board of Directors
Welcome to Club night, our guests tonight: local high school students Abigail and Tilly, accompanied by their mothers and Abigail's sister. Tonight was a step away from the norm as Alice got some practice in for when she takes over the mantle. She introduced Peter Tait-Jamieson from Te Aroha Rotary as he was needing to leave early.

President Presents...

This day in history

As it had been the Queen's birthday celebration on Monday Alice gave us some facts on her.
Was a minor Royal until her father acceded to the throne in 1936 upon the abdication of his brother, King Edward VIII, making Elizabeth the heir presumptive.
As Princess Elizabeth, she joined the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) in 1945, becoming the first female member of the Royal Family to join the Armed Services as a full-time active member. During her time in the ATS, the Princess learnt to drive and to maintain vehicles.
The Queen herself is credited with creating the Dorgi – a dachshund-corgi mix.
On 6th February this year Her Majesty became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service, making her Britain's longest reigning monarch.

We had Tilly and Abigail from Matamata College in to tell us about their RYPEN (Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment) weekend. They participated in many activities including archery and zip lining. There were 35 students and they had to not only step out of their comfort zones but learn to trust each other. Both girls were grateful for their experiences.

Guest Speaker

Peter Tait-Jamieson from Te Aroha Club came to discuss the Hauraki Trail shelters. Te Aroha were grateful for the help a couple of weeks ago by working bee members Job, Leonie, Wade, Owen, David H, John F, Robert, Peter T, Murray and Merv, he thanked them all for their wonderful efforts. He asked for $5000 contribution to help raise the funds required to finish the next stage. They are hoping to have the concrete laid soon, but with this rain that may be a pipe dream for now. The Government is contributing by paying a reasonable rate for every hour volunteers have worked on this centennial project. There has been approximately 578 hours so far! Jane thanked Peter for his time and coming through to our Club. He was given a pen and a certificate.
