Guest speaker, Alana Scott EHF
Alana also has a superb web site that offers so much advice, to eat healthy safe foods.
Her cookbook for severe dietary sufferers.

Guest speaker, Alana Scott an Edmund Hillary Fellow (EHF), introduced to our assembly by Brian Hunter. Alana, obviously well supported by her Mum Linda from a person who developed serious digestive issues; to someone who overcame such a challenge to be a notary in helping others with gut health issues. Her journey and modus vivendi:-
Starting the low FODMAP diet can feel daunting! It’s especially difficult trying to figure out what you can eat and what information you can trust. I still remember the overwhelming anxiety I first experienced when I saw the high and low FODMAP food lists. My FODMAP journey started a couple of years ago when, after a multitude of diagnostic tests,  I was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. My dietitian placed me on a low FODMAP diet to help manage my symptoms. The transformation was amazing and, within a few weeks, I knew what foods were going to trigger my symptoms and I was no longer afraid to leave the house. While the low FODMAP diet has changed my world by resolving my IBS symptoms, the constant struggle to find safe recipes and up-to-date information was tiring, and made sticking to the diet a challenge. So I decided to combine my passion for cooking and love of writing, to create yummy low FODMAP recipes and provide up-to-date science-based articles on the low FODMAP diet, to help others facing a similar struggle both in New Zealand and around the world. All of my recipes are checked by registered low FODMAP trained dietitians, to ensure they are safe for the low FODMAP elimination phase. Because I am also a Coeliac, allergic to tree nuts, and intolerant to dairy proteins, we provide extensive dairy free, gluten free, and nut free options in our recipe database. The low FODMAP diet is a medical diet which means it is important that information remains up-to-date and science-based. You will find a full reference list at the end of each low FODMAP article, so you can check that my sources are relevant and credible. To help you kickstart your low FODMAP diet my website are  full of tips, tricks and delicious low FODMAP recipes. Also, don’t forget to check out my low FODMAP meal plans so I can help you create meals your whole family will love. This service even comes with a smart shopping list that will help you locate sneaky FODMAPs in your processed foods as you navigate the supermarket. Murray Wills thanked Alana For her presentation, and concurred with the challenges with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and associated aromatic flatulence. As his daughter has such a condition at a young age, and they also as a family; worked through those challenges to help support her to now lead a normal life. Members acclamation for Alana's enthusiasm in her informative presentation. Her cookbook was available to purchase afterwards.
Linda Scott with a good host in Leo Kingston
Alana and Linda Scott brought with them a recent arrival from Australia, A canine Labradoodle, a cross breed of Labrador and Poodle. The yet to be named K9, is destined to be a Therapy Dog. A recipe for success!
