Immediate past President David Gasquoine - Rugby World Cup is off to a great start by the All Blacks.  Hopefully you could watch it uninterrupted.  Farm report - great start too.  Managing surplus of grass can be difficult.  Fresh water policy by government.  Farmers are absorbing that.  Big ramifications for all of New Zealand. Being the back bone of the country we will have to shoulder these things.

Ross Bay - Leo will be on stage at Matamata Musical Theatre leading upto Christmas.  David Gasquoine said he is willing to take part in a musical theatre show.
 
David J - Thank you from Public Health Nurse Cathi Lane for $250 contribution by Rotary towards car seats for children of 2 young local mothers.  Warehouse provided discount as well.  Thank you message also from the 2 mothers. 
 
Graham Motion - Volunteers for bar at Fire Brigade do next Saturday are organised. 
 
Wade/David H - Please help with Red Nose Day.  Cakes to Leonie's by 7:00pm Thursday night.  Or to Paper Plus by 8:30am this Friday.  
 
David W - Please put a ring around Saturday 5 October for the Matamata A & P Show.  Volunteers still needed.  Also thank you to the club members for helping Matamata Brass competition. 
 
Lyn Dobbe - Confirmed that Matamata Brass really appreciated contribution by club members.  Thank you.
 
Miranda - Ruby is home from Australia.  Parents are readjusting.  Thank you to club for sponsoring Ruby.  Personal development has been noticed.  
 
Guest Speaker - District Governor Peter Maxwell and Mary
Peter's two main tasks are to visit every club in district and to organise conference.
 
What is Rotary/how are we perceived?  What public see is tip of the iceberg.  10 reasons to join including friendship and fun.  Powerful networking organisation.  Helping people every minute of the day.  Aim is to record volunteer hours.  Matamata club has a good reputation.  US $166,000 to Rotary Foundation by Matamata so far.  100% goes to those in need. 
 
Where to from here?  Mark Maloney World President recommends involve own children and grandchildren. Rotary spans the world.  1.2 Million Rotarians in over 200 countries.  United Nations asks Rotary for help.  This is recognition of our network. 
 
Strategic priorities.  Who is missing from our club?  Need to be diverse.  Are clubs fit for purpose?  Are we speaking to other parts of community?
 
Why people join? Local service projects 41%.  International projects 31%.  Personal development/training 27%.
 
100 years of Rotary in New Zealand shortly.  Project?  Celebrations?
 
District goals are connect, collaborate and communicate with our communities. 
 
Mary Maxwell explained that Rural Support Trust is their charity of choice.  When you help a farmer know how much they are valued - legend!
 
District Conference May 2020.
