Tonight’s meeting was started off by Corporal Murray. The Club had a few guests as they were keen to hear this week’s speaker.
President Presents...
13th July is International French Fries day. Robert informed us how they came to be and why they were called that.
He reminded of Te Aroha club's invite to their annual Auction fundraiser, Wednesday 25th August. This is usually well attended by Matamata and is deemed a worthy visit if just for the catering!
District Governor Ross Pinkham will be visiting us on September 28th. He is a keen cyclist so Robert has asked for styling ideas for that night’s dinner. The word Lycra was bandied about…. gulp!
A reminder there will not be a meeting 20th July but there will be two the following week, with the AGM on the 27th (please note this will be a mid-winter Christmas dinner) and Cambridge club meeting 5.30pm at Pepper Street Café including a tour of Swaps Thursday 29th. (Shunt sheet David H - cost $20)
Members Announcements
Peter V: Lincoln students visit. Our members are asked to billet them, usually for two nights however this time is just 30th August. A shunt sheet will go out soon. This is a great fundraiser for us, and it is generally very entertaining.
Michelle visited Henry in Hospice. Sorting his pain control but in good spirits otherwise. As always our thoughts are with him.
Maz read email update for ROMAC. Australian and NZ governments have maintained their policies of not allowing ROMAC to bring patients into our countries even though there is a large list of prospective medical cases needing treatment. Due to COVID-19 restrictions there has been a large drop in revenue normally fundraised. They have asked all Clubs for donations to help them in this instance.
Maz and Bronwyn Byers are the Rotary/Waikato Rural Support Trust liaison.
