Volume 79 - No 22
18 February 2025
President Wade and his team for 2024/25
Welcome to this week's Rotary newsletter.
No Club meeting, but an organised visit to Starfish at their new premises.... see below for information.
Members Announcements
Rather than announcements this week, here are what some of us have been up to lately: for those not able to attend Adrian Worsley's open day at his Te Aroha gallery, below Adrian with his latest creation. Look closely to identify all the tools and bit and bobs that cleverly make this amazing.

Matamata race day 15th February - Also spotted on the day, Rotarians Lynette Stanley and Murray Wills.

Jo McIntosh - Starfish

Starfish Health & Wellbeing Centre is a Matamata-based, community-centred, not-for-profit organisation whose purpose is to support and promote well-being in tamariki, rangatahi, and whānau across the Matamata–Piako and South Waikato districts. The team at Starfish is made up of dedicated professionals who are passionate about making a difference in the community, and provide holistic community-centred support that includes counselling and social work, Youth Services, mentoring, Heartland Services, Attendance Services, Work-Ready Programme, driver licensing support and childcare programmes.
We were shown around the offices and different areas of their new building. As Jo mentioned, Rotary has been helping from their inception years ago and we have followed their progress with interest. It seems now they have finally found their home.
Eric thanked Jo and her team for inviting us and for their dedication and efforts in helping our local community, we are so incredibly fortunate to have them.

Current set-up includes the boxing ring they were able to purchase at greatly reduced price.
Starfish wish is to create the below image
$20,000 is needed just for the flooring. Whilst the rest is predominantly cosmetic, the equipment and fitting out will be costly. But what a well designed and useful/usable space.

If you cannot attend your duties, please arrange for a replacement. Thank you.
