After some cajoling of a very happy bunch of Rotarians by Sergeant Glenda, she brought the meeting to order. Michelle took the lectern and congratulated appointed 2017/18 directors of committees and 2018/19 Club President nominee David Gasquione. Current Vice President Peter Vossen takes office as President Rotary Matamata June 27th 2017. She thanked all members for their endeavours in club leadership, administrative and associated business affairs and project commitments as we approach half way through the current Rotary term. Michelle reiterated the possible $1000 dollar reward from District 9930, if we can achieve another 3 new members by end of May 2017. Mentioned a Skit from a recent Meteor Theatre presentation that had Eric in laughter, as maybe it mirrored an actual happening of being locked in Farmers with bags of merchandise in each hand !!! The Christmas Parade float an obvious success by Krishna's team, with Murray Wills and daughter adding to the live music on board. Appreciated the Christmas party organised by Peter V. and some fun time led by Glenda M.. Michelle highlighted the good Xmas tree sales which Owen Westlake and Bryce Scott have under control, with one more sale day this Saturday. Christmas Hampers, Tarts and Puddings sales also well promoted by Messrs Owen F. Henry C. Richard M.. Michelle in finishing, sincerely wished every one a safe ,happy festive season and looking forward to seeing everyone in the new year.
The Rotary Cambridge at the Trots fund raising function recently, was quite successful. 'Days for Girls' , was a worthy beneficiary to the tune of $4900. Lisette Hulme, who we know puts in significant efforts championing 'Days for Girls',was quote"over the moon" . It has not gone unnoticed the efforts of David Hulme in promoting that fund raising event, and the 26 strong team from Rotary Matamata that attended that evening. Well done both of you.

Past Presidents chair Eric Muckle announced 2018/19 Club President Nominee- David Gasquoine, Also our ClubOfficers 2017/18 Secretary - David Johnson, Treasurer - Miranda Thomson, Membership -Mike Farrell, Foundation-Lynette Stanley, Public Image - David Parker, Service Projects - Owen Farmilo. With Peter Vossen 2017/18 President Elect. Next chair of past Presidents committee , Graeme Guildford.
Projects committee announced the continuation of the walkway, utilising part of the Lesley Stanley property. Maps have been presented to show the proposed route. There will be a more detailed briefing of what has to be done, when this project is due to start, which will be after the concert in February 2017.

Mike Farrell thanks members for the donated goods for Food Bank. They will be delivered to the appropriate overseers of the Food Bank, end of the week.
Secretary David J. advised of the "eviction notice" from MPDC for use of the Tainui Room. They are accepting no more bookings for the Memorial Hall as of 1st January 2017. Plans are in hand for an alternate venue for Rotary Meetings.
Secretary Dave also read out a letter of appreciation from Sam Hills, as Rotary Matamata supported his soccer sport trip to Australia.
Peter Thissen is happy how the concert venue is looking. Bryce Scott does the mowing of the viewing area. BUT if any one at any time over our Rotary adjournment, has a spare few hours. There will be some minor maintenance required to manicure the grounds so to be well presented on the day. Please contact Peter 8886975 or 021 316 843.

Eric Muckle as Assistant District Governor Area 3 of District 9930. Past Governor Colin Olesen is convening a FoundationWorkshop, Thursday 23rd February 2017, 6pm to 8pm Don Rowling Centre, Karapiro. Matamata members attending will discuss a possible supper venue afterwards. No meals available before meeting ,at the time of this bulletin compilation . Area 3 is Matamata, Putaruru, Tokoroa, and Cambridge. More info next January.
Krishna learn't the two Christmas Puddings he paid for and left behind in the Tainui Room, had been duly donated to the food bank. Mike Farrell thanked him for his donation !

PRM Grenville Stocker.
Grenville was no different to many previous PRM of fellow member's. They have multiple positive moments in Rotary that have equal merit. For Grenville, the swimathon , two Concerts by the Lake, plus the benefits of being part of a worldwide Rotary organisation. A recipient of VIP treatment by a fellow Rotarian peer in Cairns, who happened to be the proprietor of a tourism boat company, are his highlights as being a member of Rotary.

When our venue for our future Rotary Meetings is confirmed, that information will certainly be communicated. As you can see from Robert's club programme, our first three January meetings are at different appropriate venues.
Next years project for continuation of the Walkway plan, is well in hand.
Fred Barrett advised that a Rotary Group Study group from Ladner , Canada. That we are hosts next Year. Dates presented are nights of 19th,20th and 21st March, they will attend our meeting on Tuesday 21st March. 4 couples and 1 female single. Contact Fred if your are able to host our fellow Rotarians from Ladner. More accurate info as to two days of activity has been suggested and contingent names , any dietary request info will be confirmed ASP. (Ladnercreated as a fishing village on the banks of the Fraser River. It is a part of the Municipality of Delta, British Columbia, Canada, and a suburb of Vancouver)
Michelle brings to your attention, a significant milestone for Matamata and District:-
Kevin Sing, Owen Farmilo and Bryce Scott entering for the last time, the Tainui Room. The Memorial Hall complex will soon be demolished, for a rebuild. Les Greenwell was the 1979 Rotary Matamata President, that first used the Tainui Room as a meeting venue.
Fred Barrett presented a Christmas Message:
The First Christmas – the Greatest Love Event In History
Fred began with some of the exhaustive secular historical records of the life, death and resurrection of Christ. He showed that the existence of God, and his visit here, the first Christmas, are rationally established facts of human history. He pointed out that the first Christmas was simply God loving us enough to break into human history, to be born as one of us, and to die to bear the consequences of all our wrongs – big or small. If, and only if, we accept this proposition, God becomes the loving friend he wants to be – here, and beyond here.
This well recorded offer of unconditional love to all who will accept it, is the message of Christmas.
