Michelle's welcome to members and guests, was in the RSA Bowling Club Rooms. This Rotary evening was Rotary Matamata social lawn bowls night. Michelle introduced a guest from China, Lia(Alice)Liu, and also reintroduced Mike and Janette Graves from England. Tom Luham, secretary of Matamata RSA Bowling Club, was also acknowledged. Michelle congratulated Harry Russell on his 90th birthday on the 16th, and thanked him for shouting a refreshment for members as well. Our President also acknowledged Brian Hunter for his 70th birthday, especially the efforts of his family to celebrate that event.
On to a problem to be solved: !!!
Our club banner has still not been located. "It just could not have disappeared into thin air", as it is a good sized banner. Members are urged to look into their storage places and anywhere that one thinks it could be hiding ,to be found. It will be a relatively costly process, to replace. So please have a look around to see if can be found.
The latest District 9930 newsletter Asprin item was a frustration to read, reference the reported 70 fortunate people who had timely access to the Rotary life saving Asprin Capsule; which now has to be withdrawn forthwith from the general public to save further lives. Medsafe indicated their interpretation is non compliance, reference a labelling issue. Medsafe has a duty to enforce NZ Statute; which is fair enough. But not enter into immediate negotiation on how to overcome this problem to meet the aims of the Act., somewhat disappoints me. Which could be as simple as a small self adhesive label to be affixed to the capsule body. I assume the single Asprin inserted into the capsule was done in New Zealand, which the supplier of those should have documentation as to the requirements required to satisfy Medsafe. I am quite sure they would not have been allowed to enter NZ in this non compliant form. I suggest, just a relatively minor New Zealand Incorporated issue. That should be able to be sorted for integrity of New Statute Law, and goodwill by Rotary and Medsafe for an outcome resolution, to remedy this Asprin Capsule as legal within the intention of New Zealand Statute Law.

Don Stanley explained that all members pay for Concert by the lake tickets, irrespective of individuals input into the project. The explained rationale for that was not opposed by members present at the RSA Bowling Club.
Lynette Stanley is proud that the Concert pricing for what is being presented, is great value for money. Ticket sales are a bit better, than this time last year. If members could be responsible for selling four tickets each, that would produce 200 concert attendees. Members heard what could be achieved financially, which would be a fair result for the efforts that go into Concert by the lake.
Peter Thissen has a Mk 3 design lake weed extractor. Peter will be nominating teams of four, to put this mark 3 extractor to good work.
David Hulme has already done a media interview with the 'Too many Chiefs' and was interviewing Tina Cross straight after RSA Bowls night. So look in our local media for those interviews of our concert performers.
Concert coordinating committee will now meet after every Rotary meeting.
There will be a major set up working bee on Saturday 11th February.

Just under 4 weeks to the Concert.
Not many corporate gazebos left for sale. Rotary Matamata have 10 gazebos, with provision on the concert viewing site for maximum of 12.
Major working bee at the concert venue, Saturday 11th February. More info nearer the time as to what minimum gear will be required for the jobs to accomplished, and of course start time and whatnot.
Only three now coming from Rotary Ladner, BC, Canada. Fred does not need billets. Nearer the time Fred will work on some activities that we could possibly help with, for our fellow Rotarian visitors stay in Matamata district.
Gavin Petrie, District Communications Officer advises for the third time, early bird registrations for District Conference, the discounted cost expires 31st January.
Rotary’s Strategic Planning Committee invites you to help Rotary plan for its future! Members of Rotary Matamata now have had this request to participate 3 times, obviously I think they have not got a realistic number of participants involved.They want to hear your perspectives and your preferences. Which causes are most important to you? What types of programs and activities do you prefer? What is Rotary doing well and where is Rotary lacking? What should Rotary aspire to accomplish in the future?

Graham Motion sincerely thanked members, for the support he received in the passing of Ann. He noted Pohlen Foundation Trust received nearly $1000 from donations at Ann's farewell. Big thanks from us also for arranging our bowls evening
Fred Barrett has been advised only three Rotarians from Rotary Ladner, are now coming to visit us in March.
I am sure we will be good hosts. Dates presented are nights of 19th,20th and 21stMarch, they will attend our meeting on Tuesday 21st.
