President Wade and his team for 2024/25
Sergeant Nicole asked Merv King to share why being in Rotary was magic... he joined Rotary nearly 54 years ago - it was by invitation only then, which for a young man was special in itself. However, there were four reasons why he stayed: 1- we are tribal, 2- provides chances to do for others, 3- the many inspirational guest speakers, and lastly... he gets a kiss from Sheryl and Maz every week... nobody saw that one coming!

President Presents...
Wade welcomed Zanthe's father Mike and Roma, their International exchange student from Rotary Club of Morrinsville - who came along for support.
On a sad note, past Rotarian Bruce Hancock passed away this week. In the announcement it said he had battled with age for 90 years!

Members Announcements...
Stew Wadey has got things sorted for A&P show, however, if anyone can help that hasn't put their names down then please contact him. He then advised we would be supporting Breast cancer awareness on the 8th October, please wear something PINK....
David W asked Jane to read letter of thanks from St Judes School in Tanzania, this has been emailed to members.
Kevin K, relayed a message on behalf of Mike F. We will be raising funds for the Food Bank this month in order to be able to provide funds for families in need over Christmas. We raised $7500 last year, so the aim is to beat that! Mike will be sending an email out to members.
Robert Stuart advised that due to having extra guests/speakers in November there would be 3 full meals and 1 finger food night.
Last week's Raffle for Prostate Awareness raised $385.00, thank you everyone for participating.

"A smile is a curve, that sets things straight"
Thank you to Robert Stuart for this gem.

Elizabeth (Eli) Foubert

Who better to introduce our International exchange student, than one of our latest young members, Zanthe. Eli is 17, and from Charleroi, Belgium. It is the third largest city, and is in the French speaking sector. Her father looks after the safety side on high speed train lines and her mother is a school Principal and a Rotarian. Eli also has a younger brother and two beautiful Siamese cats. Eli has been involved with Girl Guides for many years, and has already joined Matamata Brownies (the Guides meet same time as Rotary). She has a passion for motorbike riding and singing.... but not simultaneously! Her future plans when she returns home is to study Political Science. Whilst she has only been here for a short time, has already been to many places. She is very keen to make the most of her her experience, and asks that members consider her if they are going somewhere or doing something that she could try.

Host mother Miranda thanked Eli, she praised her by saying how much Eli has embraced living here, and her willingness to get involved with everything.  She presented Eli with a certificate and a pen.
