President Peter was tickled pink to welcome everyone in friendship and fellowship to this meeting. Special welcome to District Governor 9930 Leonie Tish, Lindsay Tisch, Immediate Past DG Keith Owen, Assistant Governor Area 3, Bill Robinson and Deb. Peter said it was opportune to draw members attention to RI President Ian Risely editorial comment, in the November Rotary Down Under. It highlighted Foundation as invisible in our Clubs, People don't see it. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean its not holding you up. RI Foundation is completely local and global. Foundation centennial year, Rotarians surpassed raising the goal of US $300 million. Peter noted everyone had got into the pink theme.

Our Rotary Matamata Club received this award ,for we achieved all the parameters required, due to the enthusiasm to do so by 2016/17 Club President Michelle Tanner.
Club President Peter " Michelle drove our Club in the right direction, to accomplish all the requirements to be awarded the coveted Rotary International Presidential Citation".
Guest Speaker Leonie Tisch, in her capacity as District Governor 9930, was Introduced by Richard Metcalfe. He noted to the assembly, a significant impressive curriculum vitae. Married to Lindsay in 1974, raised two children and are happy grandparents.
Leonie has completed 51 Club presentations in her role, our club being the 52nd and final Club. Acknowledged immediate past Governor Keith Owen, as her secretary, Assistant District Governor area 3, Bill Robinson plus members of our Club who contribute immensely as part of her District Team. Michelle Tanner, Lisette Hulme, David Hulme. " Her team very active to keep the District ticking over"."A fantastic experience thus far, 9930 district is a fair sized geographical area". " Absolutely amazing the projects Clubs in our district are achieving for our local and worldwide communities"." District 9930, 52 Clubs split into 12 areas, 1600 members". Leonie emphasised Rotary International Foundation. " The Foundation is our Charity, our Rotary Charity of Choice". Acknowledged 'Days for Girls' as a sincere on going project within Rotary. " These made up basic sanitary and hygiene product kits, to support adolescent girls in developing countries. Prior to the availability of these kits, schools registered a very high absenteeism. Now through community education and self esteem these kits provide, as absenteeism through menstrual cycles is 8% and trending downwards". Leonie does not like acronyms, be proud of Rotary. " Current RI President Ian Riseley requirements to achieve his 2017/18 Presidential Citation, are very achievable. Our District Conference team have organised a full informative /entertaining District conference, in May, brilliant to have all attendees able to be accommodated on site".In finishing, Leonie already in her tenure as District Governor has been a 'wonderful experience to hear and see Rotarians'. " we do so well, when we work together, thank you".
Jane Belton thanked Leonie for her comprehensive enthusiastic presentation, being a newish member learning more and more about Rotary.

Michelle Tanner and Lyn Dobbe will be relaunching 'Save a Life Capsules' that have been reconfigured to meet Pharmac rules. Unfortunately there are outstanding payment to be made for the previous capsules, which Michelle will follow up on. The new compliant capsule will be in packets of 3. Blister pack of soluble Aspirin. $10 for 3 capsules. Available very soon.

What are you smiling about, Harry Russell?
Thankful for family, everyday happy memories of family. A great Grandchild 1 year of age, whose Mum took 2 photographs of the child while propped up in bed 'reading' a special Family Heirloom children's book. One of those photo's of a smiling 1 year old has pride of place on Harry's fridge. Every time he see's that picture, it gives him such a happy feeling to smile.
