Hi everyone
Apologies for the newsletter being so late. I have been away in New Plymouth for a funeral so I am running very late.
Don't forget, for tomorrow night, 16th April, Peria Grove/ Dog Park work. As mentioned last week at the club meeting, Peter Vossen would like a few members to come along from 4.30pm onwards to help prepare the base of the dog park shelter. Please bring shovel and rakes.
Also the gardens in front of the dog park could do with some weeding if members wanted to spend an hour working in the gardens that would be great.
Leave the weeds on the grass and the council will mow over them.

Well we had a fantastic evening last Tuesday night with an Open Meet & Greet, for people interested in possibly joining Rotary. There were around 6 individuals who came along to learn more about Rotary and the response from them was very encouraging. Michelle Tanner welcomed everyone and showed a couple of slideshows, showcasing some of the outstanding work that Rotary does. Also touching on her work in regard to the eradication of Polio and her visit to Pakistan.
There was a great turnout of members and interested individuals.
There were lots of in depth conversations.
And friendly banter
Michelle then asked some of our existing Rotarians to share about their time in Rotary and what they have got out of it and the fulfilment they get in being able to give back.
Peter Vossen, as a Rotarian now in his 10th year, shared his experience as a Group Study Exchange recipient and how the whole experience changed his life. He commented on what an amazing organisation Rotary is and how we do great things both locally and internationally.
Roisin McQuillan, a local vet and one of our newest Rotarians, spoke of how she saw an advert about Rotary in the local newspaper, encouraging people to get involved. She felt that she was at a time in her life where she relished the opportunity to be able to give back. Roisin has loved learning more and more about what Rotary does and has enjoyed listening to our speakers and she is certainly not one to shy away from getting her hands dirty when it comes to working bees.
We also had presentations from Zanthe Kitney, our youngest member at the ripe old age of 23, who said that as a 4th generation Rotarian, she was born into Rotary.
Also Past President Alice Albright, who went on a youth exchange to Belgium and also attended RYLA. Alice reiterated that like so many things, you get out of it, what you are prepared to put in to it. She emphasized the importance of giving and being community focused.
All in all, it was a fantastic night so lets keep encouraging others to join Rotary.
