Good evening as President David made a welcome to guests, members, to a smart swish pink themed partners and friends. This evening we celebrate Women in Rotary. Thank you Jane Belton for organising this decorative pink themed meeting. " I asked Jane earlier today, what do you want me to say?" Jane: ' Just tell us how bloody good we are !!!" David acknowledged the importance of women are to Rotary, and in particular the diversity dimension on how our Club 'ticks'. " Tonight we have an absolute relevant topic, colour decorative themed tables and of course; President Elect Lynette Stanley our next Club President". Farm Watch: 13 Mls of rain...... which is no way near enough to rectify our soil moisture deficit. Waste of time after the weather forecast hype of an impending cyclone, did not eventuate. More serious rain fall is required, consider it quite dry. One bright note, my spud in the bucket entry looks good!!!  Global Dairy Trade is trending upwards in price, so that could influence an increase in our farm gate price. Once a Day (OAD) milking now, keeping a nucleus of a milking herd to seasons end, have plenty of supplement to do so; plus may be able to take advantage of an autumn grass growth, that will happen when we get some significant precipitation. OK Jane, take the lectern...... Women in Rotary.
 Celebrate Woman in Rotary
Rotarian Jane Belton, gave us a time line of events to have women be able to become Rotarians 1964 to 1991. Which included several intense legal proceedings in the USA, to eventually have women as Rotarians be written in the Rotary Constitution. Jane is also proud of the fact, her Mum; Gaye Belton was the first female member of Rotary Matamata in 1991. A third of Rotary Matamata members are female.

'Who has Inspired Me'     Michelle Tanner
Certainly, Rotarian Raewyn Kirkman who many of you know, is certainly up there for me. But my inspirational person is Florence Nightingale. I followed my Mum into nursing. Florence Nightinggale  born 1820 and died at the age of 90. She revolutionised nursing. Came to prominence while serving as a manager and trainer of nurses during the Crimean War, in which she organised care for wounded soldiers. She fought for what is right, which included having to fight politicians and her parents to improve the care of people. She was very disciplined, and created the Profession of nursing. Although Florence Nightingale never really recovered from the physical strain of the Crimean War..Florence and her nurses greatly improved the conditions and many more soldiers survived. She earned the name “The Lady with the Lamp” because she would visit soldiers at night with a small lantern in her hand. ...

Tonight, we have been celebrating 30 years since Rotary opened  its doors to women and what a rich and productive dimension they have added to the organisation. So - my parting thought for any doubters still left out there :-
