President Wade and his team for 2024/25
David H, in his last appearance as Sergeant, opted to discuss the 'Magic' of the Olympics. For such a small country NZ has traditionally done well in the Summer Olympics games. We are the 26th most successful nation with 137 medals, along with a mere 6 in Winter games. Rowing is our most rewarding with 29 medals - 14 of them gold! Canoeing and sailing have seen 19 Gold between them from 38 medals.
So 34 of our 55 Golds have been won sitting down and 24 going backwards!

President Presents...

Wade welcomed all to the third meeting of his Presidential year. Still waiting for the farming report.... wink wink... or maybe its building!

Members Announcements...

Beth announced that applications are now open for the National Science  Technology forum - to be held in Auckland 4-18 January 2025. If you know of any current Yr 12 students who are planning to return for Yr 13 and intend tertiary studies in these subjects, please advise either Roisin or Wade.

Jane advised that RYE student Elizabeth Foubert's arrival had been delayed due to Visa not being approved in time, but she was now scheduled to be here August 20th.

Owen W has been chatting with his Christmas tree contact. There appears to be a large supply available for this year. So plentiful that he even offered some to other Clubs in our area if needed.

David H. has sent shunt sheet around for "Guess who's coming to dinner?" August 16th.

AGM

The quorum was met as 2/3 Club members were in attendance. President Jane, Directors: Stew, Michelle, David J, Maz and Wade, Leonie as Treasurer and Trustee of Leukaemia Research Trust and Kevin S, Trustee of Alec Findlater Trust read and submitted their reports; with Directors thanking their committees. Wade praised Beth for her tireless efforts as Secretary, Sheryl as Bulletin Editor, Kevin K for finding speakers and Lynn D for managing Club attendance. IPP Jane thanked the Club for all their support, with special mention for David H. and Alice. David was going to have a more relaxed year but stepped up as Sergeant as Wade became President Elect.
