Combined Area 3 Foundation workshop meeting.
Colin Olesen, Rotary Maketu.
District 9930,Foundation Chair.
Colin’s aim of this Thursday 23rd February evening workshop, was to bring everyone up to speed with Foundation. The Rotary Foundation (TRF)101---Giving. This workshop not in any way, a hard sell. Just to educate on things Foundation. The outcome hopefully is an improvement of participation in Foundation and the use of Rotary Foundation. His presentation indicated only about 30% of Rotary members fully understand Rotary Foundation, which also has a 4 Star Charity endorsement. Because of transparency of its financials and very competent administration. With the low returns on interest received with Foundation funds, some capital has had to be drawn down to manage Foundation. TRF Motto…to do good in the world.
Eric Muckle, assistant Governor Area 3 introduced and closed the meeting, President Rotary Matamata Michelle Tanner also gave an enlightening presentation, finishing with a very positive note. That we may..may have seen our last case of Polio in the World. But as with Nigeria, it could come back. Here’s hoping. The evening was very well run, attending Rotarians were fully engaged with the presentations. We had brief breakout sessions such as to suggest ways we can contribute to Foundation, including personal giving, contributions to the Annual Fund and bequeaths to the Endowment Fund. The Rotary Foundation enables Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. A point of clarification, Rotary International is funded by Club Dues. Rotary Foundation funded by contributions. In finishing, Colin went through how Grants are Funded and concluded hopefully he was able to lift attendees knowledge on Rotary Foundation, and making the funding system work for you. Rotarians from Tokoroa,Putaruru,Cambridge and Matamata attended.
