Our Concert by the lake Club project is now just over 4 weeks away.
Peter Thissen has upgraded the steel work on the pontoon. Looks impressive already against the back drop of the willows.
With the recent rain and the TLC Bryce Scott has been doing with the mowing of the grass that will be the public viewing areas, will also enhance the concert experience.

Next major project planning well in hand, the Walkway continuation from Peria Road.
Looking in the direction where the proposed Rotary Matamata walkway continuation work programme, will start from the Peria Road end. It will initially follow this boundary, then cut left towards Lesley Stanley's property.
Neil Algar Walkway ends and/or starts at Peria Road, allows an easy access to and from our Rotary Matamata Commemorative Grove. Anticipate this year that our community will see the walkway connection to Dawson Street completed.

Bryce is doing the mowing every 8-10 days and the grass is looking very good.
Stew did some weed-eating over the holidays – many thanks for the help.
Ineke and I had the watering system going for a couple of days during the dry periods – 9 sprinklers to move every hour!
So if anyone has some spare time, there is always work to be done like pulling out weeds from the lake (1-2 hours is all it takes and we only need three volunteers).
Tell us when you want to come – you only need to bring gumboots and gloves.
Also the artist area needs some levelling out.
We will have a bigger working bee closer to the concert date.

PS: We are still desperately searching for the Rotary Matamata sign that goes on the front of the pontoon. Can anyone remember packing it down from last year’s event? If so can you contact Peter and let him know where it was put. If not, does anyone recall seeing it in use at any event since the concert. Could you all please check to make sure you don’t have it at home. Thank you.
Projects committee announced the continuation of the walkway, utilising part of the Lesley Stanley property. Maps were shown to show the proposed route. There will be a more detailed briefing of what has to be done, when this project will due to start, which will be after the concert in February.

Fred Barrett advised that a Rotary Study group from Ladner , Canada are visiting New Zealand. We are asked to be hosts. Dates presented are nights of 19th,20th and 21st March, they will attend our meeting on Tuesday 21st. 4 couples and 1 female single. Contact Fred if your are able to host our fellow Rotarians from Ladner. More accurate info as to two days of activity that has been suggested, plus contingent names and any dietary request info will be confirmed ASP. (Ladnercreated as a fishing village on the banks of the Fraser River. It is a part of the Municipality of Delta, British Columbia, Canada, and a suburb of Vancouver)
