Johnny Dryden 

 

Krishna introduced Johnny... I wished he'd said "heeeere's Johnny" ... but I guess he never watched The Shining ... however, in 30 years of radio Johnny shone! Although when he first started out he was told he didn't have the voice for radio, he persevered and got vocal training and proved them wrong. When asked what inspired him to become a DJ, he said he frequently used to call the local radio station, and if he kept his own radio quiet enough to avoid the high pitched feedback, he could hear himself talking on the radio. As a 13 year old he found that thrilling and was bitten by the bug!

After many 'interesting' years with many changes in mainstream radio, and working with lots of different personalities he left, then discovered there was a gap in the market. So in 2008, after having to mortgage their house .... Cruise FM aired for the first time; survived the pandemic and is still going strong.

Thanks given by Lynette, who also added she had always loved radio and didn't think the format had changed that much and was a much needed form of media.
