Peter then told us how he started his business trading his car for a ute. His first big build was a homestead for Kerridge’s on the property now owned by Waikato Stud.
It had natural timber sarking ceilings, games room, spa room and many other fabulous features that tested his skills.
He also built a loft house for Māori King - Tūheitia Paki, whom at the time, was just Tu and Peter enjoyed the friendship that developed. While working on the loft house he got to meet Maori Queen Dame Te Atairangikaahu on several occasions.
Peter talked about the pride in being able to showcase his work by entering some of the houses he has built, into the Waikato Master Builder Competition and winning awards along the way.
Peter and Chris take pride in helping young men enter the building trade and work through their apprenticeship and then to see them go out on their own.
Keep up the good work Peter and Chris and the members thank you for the opportunity to admire your craftsmanship.
