Volume 79 - No 28
8 April 2025
President Wade and his team for 2024/25
Tonight not only was Wade our President, he was also our guest speaker Eli's current host father... more from her later. This would explain the number of extra guests, past host families and friends coming along to support her.
Members Announcements
GWCTD (guess who's coming...) Friday April 11th, David H envelopes were handed out ...address details inside... no peeking before Friday!
Peter V stood up to acknowledge not only the work Michelle and her team had done to organise last week's open evening, but to give a special shout out to Janelle for her amazing job as host, not that he was surprised... he is her Rotary mentor!
Lianne only had a few volunteers to help with the parking at the Sustainability Fun day for the coming Sunday, and needed more.
Merv thanked the Club for the flowers given after his surgery.
Robert advised he too was healing well, and was grateful for the kind wishes and thoughts bestowed whilst he was recuperating.
Murray gave a quick run down on what he had been up to recently to explain his absences... needless to say his music career is coming along well and he has been doing some interesting collaborations. Feel free to chat with him to get more details.
David W reminded the Club the annual Matamata Brass Festival of Music would be on the weekend of 24-25th May at the Matamata Intermediate school, volunteers are needed. For the newer members if you haven't been, this is well worth attending.

March 27th Roisin and Miranda went to some of our local primary schools and handed out 28 dictionaries to the children and five to the teachers.... judging by the smiling faces, and a thank you email afterwards from a parent... these were well received!

PARTING THOUGHT

Thanks to Kevin Sing
Eli Foubert (pronounced Fu-bear)

Eli was introduced by Wade, something mumbled about she's a ratbag teenager... but the smile gave it away. Eli showed many slides of her fabulous adventures she has had in her eight months here, she is definitely making the absolute most of her time here. She struggled to work out which photos out of 6000 or so to choose from to show us! It's difficult to say what her best experience was, but they are all memorable. However, she has not finished yet... check her wishlist out there are still many opportunities to spend with her. Kevin K thanked Eli, and noted how friendly, helpful and willing to try anything she is.
