President David welcomed everyone to this meeting, especially incoming District Governor Peter Maxwell, David also introduced himself to the meeting, as we had many guests and young people to this meeting; and added this is a special Auction Meeting to support our young people. President David explained in his term, that he presents a weekly brief Farm Watch report so urban folk are aware of what is happening on farm in the rural district. This week, he gave a brief report on the National Fiedays™, a he is also a Board member of that entity. 128747 visitors over the four days, which saw quality presentation of products plus our Prime Minister of New Zealand attended two full days. First Prime Minister to do so. Previous  visits only lasted half a day. Her attendance did not go un noticed.
                             
  • Rotary members are asked if they are available to help out with our Matamata Youth Winter Games  initiative, celebrating the shortest day. THIS FRIDAY NIGHT Duties are some traffic control, as part of Arawa Street will be blocked off this event. General walk about to help the community have a fun time. Time required is 4.30pm to 9pm. The social atmosphere of those present was just right for the start of our auction meeting.
We had John (Pricey) Price , as our auctioneer. He orchestrated a SUPERB $4500 fund raiser!!!

Below are four of the five Matamata College students, chosen to represent New Zealand.
(L to R) Ollie Morton-Farrelly, Conor Goodwin, Olivia Goodwin & Mollie Allison. Due to a sport commitment, Te Aorere Wharawhara is the fifth Matamata young person chosen.
Olivia Goodwin, Mollie Allison, Conor Goodwin are competing in the Beach Volleyball competition, California, United States of America. 5th July to 19th July.
Ollie Morton-Farrelly and Te Aorere Wharawhara will compete in the Indoor Vollyeball  competition, Florida , United States of America. July 12th to 28th.
Club Treasurer Miranda Thomson, counts the proceeds from very supportive bidders.
