Rotary Matamata Change Over of Officer’s, for the next 12 month Rotary Term.
One of the 34000 Rotary Clubs around the World doing so this month of July. This important occasion venue was the Matamata Racecourse Presidents Lounge, Tuesday 2nd July. Outgoing President David Gasquoine welcomed everyone to the very well attended dinner assembly, to witness the handing over of the Chain of Office as President Rotary Matamata to Lynette Stanley. David acknowledged guests Lynette’s Mum Jacqui, and family members, 9930 District Governor Peter Maxwell and Mary, Retiring Assistant Governor Area 3, District 9930 Bill Robertson and Deb, plus incoming Assistant Governor Area 3, David Hulme and Lisette. David Gasquoine reflected on his 12 months as President. Thanked Club Rotarians for their support, dedication to task that made his term of office a real privilege to do so. He also was well satisfied that our Club made a positive difference to our local community and individuals , whether it be financial or by community enhancements, plus contributing significantly to Rotary Foundation projects , sponsorships of emergency kits, St Judes to name three. Outgoing President David quite pleased that is our Core Strength as a Rotary Club, and that combined individual giving back to Society has been such a positive experience for me. “I thank Lachie Duncan and Merv King, who started my journey in Rotary”.
We were entertained by Te Wairere Kapahaka group, made up of junior and senior students from Matamata College. Just recently aquitted themselves very well at the Tainui Regional Kapahaka Secondary Schools event last weekend. Their Whakpapa mainly from Ngati, Raukawa and Ngati Hinerangi of the Matamata Area. Their presentation full of energy.
Before handing over the Chain of Office, David presented a well deserved Paul Harris Fellowship to Owen Farmilo, and Rotary Matamata Service above Self Award to retiring Bulletin Editor Stew Wadey. Lynette Stanley was presented the Chains of Office by David, as his last duty of his term of office. President Lynette presented her goals for her term in office, Thanking the Club for the opportunity to serve our Club as President. “Service above Self and privileged to have Rotarians, Friends and Family and hope to achieve significant outcomes this term. Lynette introduced her Director Team to the assembly, presenting them with their badge of Office. The meeting concluded, as it had began. Fellowship, smiles and an indisputable aire of a proud team of Rotarians , Friends as Rotary Matamata.
