Adrienne Carter with husband Stu are the relatively new proprietors of Four Seasons Garden Centre, Tainui Street ,Matamata. A nice surprise was both of them were former Rotary exchangee's , Adrienne sponsored by Rotary Taupo Moana , Stu was sponsored by our Club. The Carter surname in Okauia goes back many many generations, and  reside in the Carter home and ten acres of the original farm. their family is complete with two daughters. They never dream't they would end up  as Garden Centre business owners. Stu from a sharemilker, FIL field representative, a brief stint at PGG Wrightson store and then head hunted to join Farmlands. Adrienne from an accounting background, which she commented was a very good complimentary skill set ,so everything fell into place to embark on being self employed business owners. She also does community good  support to Matamata College with leadership responsibilities and Matamata Intermediate with their student garden programme. They are still going through the initial learning curve of the many aspects of the business they are in, but several times they both acknowledged the skill sets of their staff and in reality are a very much appreciated business asset. They presented some items for to members to view of their support to bird and bees . Firstly bird feeding sticks, that actually are very helpful to our smaller avian specie but very difficult for the likes of Minors and Magpies to steal the food that is attached to the sticks, which are just pushed into the ground where the customer wants them. Secondly the Lavendar and Boronia plants that are significant food and nectar source for bees. A little phenomena around Matamata  that at the moment is really advocating to grow your own vegetables, is the New World starter kits promotion. They are selling products to folk who now need to re pot and nuture the various nutritious food plants. They also acknowledged the support of the previous long time owners of Four Seasons Garden Centre, during the ownership transition process .They indicated support to Rotary Matamata.
