Members had created a very amiable atmosphere when Michelle took the lectern. She apologised for the over run on time last meeting, but felt it was important to conclude appropriately club business. Krishna was introduced to explain to us Diwali, a significant Celebration of Light on the Hindu calendar. There is one part of the Diwali celebration she was certainly going to discuss the good oil with Eric. Wink wink, nod nod -say no more !!!!! Michelle asked members to consider the combined Rotorua Rotary clubs Charity Luncheon. Funds raised will benefit community funds for community work. Looking forward to our own fellow member ,Glenda Milligan presentation on aspects of her professional work as a funeral director.

Glenda enjoys the privilege of being Chairperson of Waikato/Bay Of Plenty Funeral Directors Association and just recently in 2015 was elected to the Board of the Funeral Directors Association of NZ (FDANZ). Her main topic was 'Take time to Talk'. That is the recommendation to encourage families to discuss and plan, so to honour 'last wishes'. The subject of expiration may be a bit emotive for family members to discuss, as unfortunately Glenda's profession do see many instances of a lack of pre organised final wishes of the deceased. Her Professional
Association members, do have a well written booklet that all details can be written and filed for future reference. The recorded information includes the necessary details to register a death, children and parents full names, pre arrangement wishes such as type of Service, music, clothing, jewellery and sometimes people who you wish to be invited to ones funeral. Also the preferred choice of burial internment or cremation, and the choice of casket. There is a New Zealand 1976 statute that's does restrict burial on private land. People who request to donate their body to science, must do so while they are alive. Otherwise bequeaths of eyes, skin, bone and heart valve organ donation can be professionally arranged. New Zealand grieve very well, when compared to many other countries. We stop the world to celebrate the person. Harry Davison gave an enlightening introduction for such a topic, with Owen Farmilo " Glenda has to be a special person, to do this job" in thanking her for a thoughtful presentation.
Society of Arts sent thanks and a cheque for $50, for members helping to make their show a success.

His highlight was project, Kim Crawford Wine Night. A lot of fun and " A bucketful of money!" He acknowledged Glenda M. managing the financial and administration of that project. David also admires on how Rotarian Roger Miller of Tauranga, is held in high esteem in world Rotary circles, plus he does a great job in organising travel arrangements for Rotarians world wide.

Saturday the 19th November the Building Unity through Safer Communities (BUSC) group is holding a Walk to show support against family violence in our community . The walk takes place on Waharoa road east road from approx. New World to Pohlen road , a distance of 3 km return trip. Brian Hunter is looking for Volunteer Marshalls to keep watch on the walkers and make sure none stray onto the Railway line during the walk.
The Marshalls need to be there for a safety briefing at 9,45 am, and the event is over at mid day (unless you want to stay and help pack down the event for the next hour)
Brian is looking for 6 Rotarians in Rotary vests to join the 6 volunteers from the Community watch group to make this team complete

Both thanking Rotarians for their community projects assistance. At Pohlen David Wheadon briefly became Sir Dave, while Rotarians were very reluctant in consuming scones and tea, Yeah Right!!
Sheryl E. the photo bomb queen!!!!!! Glenda was not only our guest speaker as a Funeral Director, but is our club sergeant. These smiles are real and mirrors the club social atmosphere of members I suggest, even though due respect and frank open opinion on club affairs are not left unresolved.
