David H, in his final last appearance as Sergeant, again referred to the 'Magic' of the Olympics. There may have been mention of the strength of the women's contribution to the medal count!
President Presents...
Wade welcomed all to the meeting and introduced visiting Rotarians: PP Ian Grant from Cambridge and Johnathan Bennett, current President of Fairfield Rotary. Johnathan later addressed the room briefly , he is visiting Clubs in the region to get ideas to help in his Club's goal to increase membership.
Wade gave an update on Regionalisation pilot program. Ideas wanted for a "Beautify our Community" project. The other Clubs will work on what's best for their own areas, this is a great way to involve our community, happening later in October.
Members Announcements...
Wade reminded all that applications are open for the National Science Technology forum - Auckland 4-18 January 2025. If you know of any current Yr 12 students who are planning to return for Yr 13 and intend tertiary studies in these subjects, please advise either Roisin or Wade. He asked for a Champion to liaise with College - Michelle T offered.
Beth informed that the College wine & cheese evening was proceeding, they are wanting to work in with the community to better understand our aspirations to then better guide our youth as they enter the workforce. 5.30pm August 28. An email has been sent around.
David H. has sent shunt sheet around for "Guess who's coming to dinner?" August 16th.
Jane advised the billets for Lincoln students were mainly sorted, may still need 3 beds for the Tuesday 27th.
Michelle checked on interest to visit our sister club Ballina in Brisbane later this year.
Stew discussed the importance of phoning in to advise non-attendance OR if a guest is coming. Sadly this is frequently not happening and some effort needs to be put in by members in order to help our Admin team that have to sort this out.
