Parting Thought
From Owen Westlake

Our 2021-22 Board of Directors
As the entire country is in level 4 this means back to our old friend/foe Zoom!! Thus tonight’s meeting was started off by David H as he welcomed us in. The guest speaker for this evening prefers to address us face to face so this will be deferred to another time.
President Presents...

Robert greeted all who could attend the 5pm Zoom meeting.
Last Tuesday the Club went to the MVS tour at the Equine hospital, this was well attended and proved very informative. Whilst we had been told about many of the services and equipment, it was great to then see it in situ.

Volunteers are required for the Special Olympics being held in Hamilton 8-12th December 2021. The National Summer Games need 600 helpers and Robert asked for a show of hands to indicate interest.
Rotary South Canterbury club are keen to do a friendship exchange with Matamata, and sometime from 6-22 March 2022 they would like to visit and a 3 day tour be organised.
Interact are doing their quiz/auction evening 21 October and have asked if we could help with 6-8 gifts. Funds raised are for Give Every Child A Future.

Members Announcements
Peter V: Lincoln students visit. Cancelled and not rescheduled.
Sheryl advised same applies to Daffodil Day collecting. However donations can be made online, unfortunately there is now a surplus of daffs so some ideas for these would be good. Someone suggested selling them to businesses around town... this will depend on when they can reopen.
Peter V gave an update on the proposed dog park. Council are currently assessing the site which can be accessed off Peria Road, near Stanley walkway and the Rotary Kahikatea Grove.

With sadness we said farewell to Chris Webb who has sold house and is moving to Katikati along with his wife Jenny. They will be sorely missed as we have enjoyed Chris's willingness to participate and his comradery. Best of luck and hope you stick with Rotary!!

Note from the Editor:
Some Leonie Lockdown advice:

Everyone please be careful as folk are going crazy from being stuck at home. Actually I was just talking about this the other day with the microwave and the toaster. I didn't mention it to the washing machine as she has a different spin on life. Couldn't even share with the fridge as he's acting all cold and distant. The iron finally straightened me out but the vacuum told me to suck it up!! Toilet looked flushed when I asked it's opinion, but the door said I'm unhinged and the knob told me to get a grip!! Finally the curtains told me... "we just have to pull ourselves together".
