Hey team
Hope you are all having a great week 😊
President Alice welcomed everyone and expressed the Clubs condolences to Michelle Tanner at the sad passing of her father.
Alice opened the meeting with a brief rundown of the workings of the Westminister International Club. Chartered in 1948, it is a 27 member club who have been sponsoring an Interact Club since 1978. They are also heavily involved with the Plimco Puffins who support disability swimming projects in London and the Soho Church helping to feed the homeless. But their major project is being involved in the Kids Day Out program for disadvantaged children which started in 1990 and in 2019, this project, took over 28,000 children on a day out, involving over 10,000 Rotarians at over 100 venues and theme parks.
Great work Westminister Club!
- Jane introduced our guest speaker Sofia Shing (David Wheadon's Granddaughter) who spoke very confidently about her Tennis Scholarship to the University of Georgia. Sofia encouraged us all to inform any sporting students me may know to consider applying for a scholarship as there are over 1200 Universities throughout America involved in the scholarship program and in her words, they are very worthwhile and rewarding.
After the guest speaker, Miranda showed us a short video on Cure Kids, before David Hulme began the Mystery Paper Bag Auction. Loads of laughs were had by all and we raised over $1500.00 for Cure Kids!
Fantastic!
