2019 is 250 years from first meeting of Maori and Captain Cook.  Tuia 250 weaving people together for a shared future.  50 years ago a Maori perspective seemed absent.  That has changed now.  Are the commemorations a celebration or a protest?  Perhaps the answer is something complex between those two perspectives.

Melbourne Cup Night, Tuesday 5 November 2019.  Start at 4.30pm.  Finger food.  Wear a hat.  Prize for best hat.

Avoiding scams and staying safe online.  If too good to be true, it wont be true.  If you are asked to use your bank account, it may involve money laundering.  For example, job opportunities requesting bank account before job secured.  Also, new mystery shopper scams.  Various types of scams, including dating and romance, jobs, trading, inheritance and lottery, phone scams and card fraud.  If provide bank account details to others, it can be a breach of duty to bank and may not be protected by the Bank.  If problem, tell Bank early, so it is easier for funds to be traced.  Do not click on links.  Do not give pin number out.  Do not share pin numbers, even with spouse.  Using same pin numbers for different cards could be a breach of bank rules.  Cover key pad when using pin.  Always swipe by self.  Try to use ATMs that are attached to Bank, not stand alone ones.  Couples need separate online banking passwords.  Hang up on scam callers because they will be abusive.  Be aware of family fraud too.  Tell bank whenever go overseas.

Thank you Hesta and Mikaila for an informative and important presentation.
