President Peter welcomed everyone to this Half Year Annual General Meeting, apart from essential Club business enjoy fun and fellowship. Special welcome to Travis Mann, Rotary Club of Hanford, District 5230 CA. USA. Invited to New Zealand by a chance meeting with Richard Metcalfe at the recent Atlanta Convention. Good to see Michelle and Eric back in Matamata, and Merv King seen on his ride on mower after his knee surgery. Great night at the theatre last week, although doing a seductive dance on stage in a Tutu; left me traumatised !!! ha ha . He thanked Don Stanley for the 'Bar Shout', Jackie and Don 60th wedding anniversary. Peter along with several other Matamata Rotarians, visited Otumoetai Rotary Club to hear DG 9930 Leonie Tisch presentation. Unamimous in endorsing Leonie's quality message. Doing a great job in her role, and it is incumbent on us as Rotary Matamata to register for District Conference.

Michelle attended the opening of a Literacy Centre in Juang, Pakistan which our Club co sponsored partnered with a US Club.

Previous minutes confirmed true and correct. Items raised at that previous AGM were answered and satisfied concern. Financial Statements were accepted by the meeting. Questions on aspects of members enquiry , were explained and already in this current financial year some indexing have been appropriately modified. Financial Statements were adopted.

Michelle Tanner very proud in our Rotary Matamata involvement , with the LiteracyCentre opening in Juang, Pakistan. A more descriptive presentation of her attending the opening of that Literacy Centre, and her brief comment of a military taxi service back to Lahore sounds interesting as well. Will be incorporated in a normal; club meeting soon.
Richard Metcalfe will be introducing Leonie to our meeting next week. Richard quite impressed with the curriculum vitae of our District Governor. That he will have to précis that down in his introduction duty.

Concert By The Lake looking good. CBL committee meeting this week, so things are well in hand for our concert a 100 days from this Friday 24th November.

The grass has been planted and is well up
Seventeen truck loads of metal were spread by Swaps.They have donated everything including their time Neil Bell Contracting donated his machinery to level area and plant grass seed Paul Jones spread and leveled the metal ,no charge
President Peter and his staff poured the concrete path John Fernyhough dug out the path and paid for the transport of the digger Eric Muckle and his toys carted excess soil and rubbish
Thank you to David Thrupp and staff for their time erecting the fencing And thanks to the members who spent time doing the entrances and all the other odd jobs
Total cost to the club will be approximately $2500.00
Thanks to the generosity of Lesley Stanley and family and the cooperation of council and staff.

Working bee at Peter Thissen's concert venue 8am or there abouts ,This Friday 24th November to tidy up the ground at the artistes area behind the stage.
Mike Farrell received a thank you letter and donation, for car parking at the A & P Show. Plus now asks for support to the Food bank. 55 families have been identified that will need support this Christmas. Contributions will be received at our next meetings. Recommended contribution list is in the information segment of this bulletin.
Lynette Stanley has started the shunt sheet for Christmas pies. 6 and 9 pack available. No Gift Basket's this year.
ROTARY CHRISTMAS PUDDINGS Limited numbers of Rotary Christmas Puddings will be available again this year – the sale of each $20:00 pudding will result in a profit of $5:00 for Matamata Rotary Foundation Due to extenuating circumstances there will not be a concerted marketing campaign for these products – therefore, Please email your individual orders to Richard Metcalfe bennachie@xtra.co.nzno later than 12 December 2017 Delivery arrangement will be organised for Tuesday 19 December 2017. Leonie's Conference as District Governor. District 9930 conference registrations have opened. With registrations already tracking well, that on site accommodation may be fully subscribed earlier than anticipated.
A request to aid meeting car parking, keep clear of the gap in the wall that gives access to the grass beside St John, so we can use the grass to park on if needed, now the ground conditions are better.

Acknowledged Kevin Kent as her teacher at college, then went onto a 4 year joinery apprenticeship with Stanley Construction, after convincing Don Stanley that an office clerk was not what she wanted, Appreciated the skills passed onto her by Maurice Bycroft. After a period of OE, returned to New Zealand. Smiles every time she puts joinery input into her Matamata home, by the very skills learnt in her apprenticeship in town.
" I called an old friend and asked what he was doing. He replied that he is working on 'Aqua-thermal treatment of ceramics, aluminium and steel, under a constrained environment'.
I was impressed. On further enquiry I learnt he was washing dishes with hot water, under his wife's supervision".

To his right is retired Rural Banker Dave Johnson, so I am sure agricultural lending and the 5 year and 10 year financial outlook will not be dissimilar with interest rates in NZ & USA.

Our attendance officer Kevin Kent, as we all know is charged with the duty to notify to our caterer of members and guests that evening.
We know it is not always possible to ring the answer phone before 9am Tuesday mornings, of apologies or extra guests.
But there is a noticeable trend of ringing the answer phone, way past 9am, after Kevin has discharged his duty, Which leads to a bit of phone tag at times that can be frustrating so to resolve revised numbers.
