President Wade and his team for 2024/25
Sergeant Nicole spoke on the anniversary commemorating women getting the vote in NZ, 19th September 131 years ago! A petition of nearly 32,000 womens' signatures were collected, and finally convinced Parliament. This outcome inspired suffragists around the world to continue the fight to be given equal rights... or at least the chance to vote.

President Presents...
Wade welcomed spouses Lindsay, Brenda, Jean, and Ineke.
Sadly we bade farewell to Gordon Lukies, who passed away September 18. David H kindly spoke at his funeral on our behalf. Gordon was just shy of his 70th year in Rotary - what an achievement! He was a well liked and kind man, we will miss him dearly.

District Governor 2024-25 District 9930

Peter V introduced Nick Dangerfield; they have known each other for a few years now and been involved in a variety of projects and events, such as the Annual car rally. Nick by profession is a bean counter, he is married to Maria and they are both members of Tauranga Te Papa club.
He started by sharing Rotary's vision, action plan, and more on the regionalisation pilot. This great opportunity gives Clubs the chance to work with other Clubs, not purely based on location, but what projects or interests they have in common. 9930 was to have been Zone 8, but will now be Rotary Pacific - as this is a more informative name. Nick asked us to consider what we say to explain what Rotary is or does? Because whilst the goal and work to end Polio is amazing, for many people now they don't know much about it so why not mention some of the many projects that may be more relatable...partners for a malaria-free Zambia, cervical screening for women in Egypt, or local projects: creating cycle trails, providing disaster relief, computer recycling. And who can forget Cat Levine, in her quest to enable children to form solid foundations to deal with difficult emotions for life. Nick also suggested saying we are people of action, problem solvers, life changers, dedicated, empathetic and community connectors.
Nick closed by inviting all to the next conference, to be held at the Energy Events Centre, Rotorua 16-18 May 2025. Nick and Vivya Nand (DG 9920) are jointly hosting this... "Better together".
Sheryl thanked Nick and Maria for coming and presented him with a certificate and a pen.
