Sheryl advised approximately 800 tickets are still to be sold, keep up good work. Hopefully street sales will help, thank you to all members helping out.

Mike F advised that members have so far donated $2400 to Foodbank. Still time for more to be done. Also we have received a District grant of $3250 to go towards the purchase of gates for the cemetery.

As our original option was cancelled Alice has arranged for Christmas dinner to be at the Old Forge, Te Aroha on Monday December 6. December 14 will be our last dinner and we will be doing Secret Santa that night.

Kevin S has a shunt sheet going around for the selling of Christmas trees.

Last week's meeting was a community night cleaning up town signage. Everyone met at Kahikatea grove, Peria Road and were put into groups and sent off. Well done to all those that helped. Below are some photos from our group.

"Quick" update on some of our members:

Robert asked for a few minutes silence in honour of Rotarian Henry Clothier, who died on November 11 after a long battle with his health. David H regaled us with a comment from Henry when David first introduced him to Lisette "treat her like a thoroughbred and she'll never be a nag!!" Apparently Lisette has never let David forget this! Merv King then gave a heartfelt tribute to Henry.
Henry was in Rotary for over 40 years, always ready with a smile, a quip, some advice or offer of help. Nothing ever was too much for Henry, his enthusiasm never waned throughout this period. Prior to joining and over the years, his business acumen and entrepeneurship saw him look at many different ways of making money, he liked to think outside the box! He started up Waharoa Taxis a 24 hour service, wife Anne not too thrilled as he was the sole driver. He also started up Henry's Septic Tanks, Matamata Post and Rail, bought a farm, even joined Glenda in the funeral business. When he moved to Tirau they opened up Oxford Antiques and then arranged for others to join in his vision for making Tirau the must-stop-at tourist town it has become. There is so much more to add as Henry led a full, varied and adventurous life. If you had the pleasure of meeting him, you would never forget him.

Tonight we listened to David H give a tribute to Glenda Milligan as she was awarded a PHF in recognition for her services to the Club. She joined in 1998, and over the next 23 years she was a Director of various committees and Club Secretary. She was passionate for many aspects of community work but her favourites were Children of the Forest and the School of St Judes. She is the reason we have one of our Australians in our Club, as she introduced Sheryl in 2008. Tonight Sheryl advised that Glenda too was born in Australia... Glenda had been happy to let Sheryl bear that "honour" alone!! So we farewell another member moving on to her next adventure. Don't be a stranger Glenda and congratulations on your second Paul Harris Fellowship pin.

Note from the Editor:

I wanted to write so much more about Henry, there is his famous 737 charter flight so he could be amongst the first to see in the new millenium. His innovative ways of fundraising for our Club, along with their success will be hard to match and harder to forget. So if you don't know all his stories then be sure to talk to fellow Rotarians as I am sure there are so many more! Oh nearly forgot the donkey tale... always one of my favourite.

PS: Apologies for the delay for this Bulletin, unfortunately life and work sometimes intervene!!
