Michelle welcomed members and guests to our new meeting venue, St john Building. Guests included Tony Lawes, Christine Wilson and Lou Beer. Daniella was all smiles when acknowledged as part of our Rotary meeting. A question to members on who gets the Rotarian , which is the USA version of Rotary Down Under (RDU).Two members get the Rotarian, and most of our members indicated they receive RDU. Another question was "how many remove the RDU from it postal plastic envelope, and actually reads it!" It appears many do read the RDU information magazine. Michelle read an article from the latest Rotarian. Which is an endeavour of USA Rotary that initiated an annual Humanitarian Mission to Myranma, to support health issues improvement and well being, including to teach basic English language. The latest Mission reached 3500 adults and children with this annual project. Myranmar is slowly recovering from having gone from one of the richest countries in the world ,to the poorest. It still has some community unrest in parts of its sovereign state. All part of Rotary Service. Then volunteers were called for this Friday, to assist Heart Week Champion David Wheadon with donation collection. Opportunity as a Rotarian, to travel to India, and take an active part in that country's National Polio Immunisation Week. This project is not that too far away calendar wise. Nuts and Bolts NZ Rotary seminar March 18th,further information is this bulletin. Advised there is no Rotary Matamata meeting Tuesday 21st February, but a Rotary Foundation combined meeting for several clubs at the Don Rowlands Centre, Lake Karapiro, Thursday 23rd.

Message from Michelle:-
“Thank you for being patient as we settle in to our new home. We had some good discussion about our needs with St. John’s management after the meeting. We will be trying some different set ups and are looking at a sound system. As you would have seen the building is in the process of a major upgrade. Earthquake-proofing has finished and now they are looking at general improvements and decorating. The kitchen will be getting a dishwasher and facelift. In the meantime we need to wash up our glasses after each meeting so this will be added to our weekly tasks so the same people do not end up doing it each week. I think it will end up as a great venue but need to continue to be patient in the interim. I’m away next week but I look forward to seeing you at the Workshop on 23rd February.".
Fred's video's have always created an interest, and a consensus is that the video be shown in its entirety, and not split between two meetings.
