Lots of things coming up so lets have a look:

  • Stew Wadey has the wheels well and truly in motion for the Spud In A Bucket and we would love to think that all members would commit to taking at least 2 buckets each. All the buckets are filled and ready to go .
  • Gin Tasting evening coming up on the 25th October.
  • Still 75th Anniversary books available.
  • President Alice Clothier asked that when you are making an apology to the answer phone, please also state the date for which you are apologizing, to avoid any confusion.
  • Admin Director Jane Belton has asked that when you or your guest are paying for a meal at the door, please use the envelopes provided and write their name and date on the envelope and insert the correct amount for the meal.
  • David Hulme informed us that Past District Governor Mike Smith passed away suddenly. He was the DG for 2015-2016 and resided in Napier and had several visits to our club. Our condolences to his family.
  • Alan Dale from Birkenhead Rotary would like to host some of our members in a reciprocal visit to Birkenenhead in the future if there is enough interest.
  • Harry Russell proudly announced to the club that his eldest son has just had his 70th birthday. WOW!!!!

Parting Thought

Life is not like your television
It has no remote
So... If you want to make a change,
You have to get up and do it yourself!

Many thanks Sue Whiting. ðŸ˜Š

Hi there everyone

My apologies for not getting the newsletter out earlier, but lets just say that it's been one heck of a week.

Special thanks go out this week to all those who were able to help on Saturday 24th with the spreading of mulch, weeding and giving the bench seat a spruce up at the dog park

Fantastic effort. Just check out the photos below!

It was great to see some of the Interactors along last week. Robert Stuart and Michelle Tanner congratulated past committee members Rico, Tayla and Ashley, and presented them with their certificates of appreciation. It was very refreshing and heartening to hear how they all felt that being part of Interact had given them all great direction in finding their place in the greater scheme of things.

Michelle also welcomed and introduced some of the Interact members of the incoming committee,
Priya - President, Marissa - Secretary & Maddie - Projects. These girls are all very enthusiastic and keen to make a difference. We wish them well.

Our speaker for the evening was Abby McDonald whom we helped support to attend the Under 19 Volleyball Championships in Australia. Apologies as my photo of Abby disappeared!!

Abby explained how the competition was pretty fierce between the New Zealand, Australian and American Teams, with some hard fought battles. Overall they had a fantastic tournament with her team coming away with the Gold Medal for the Women's Under 19.  The highlights for her was the competition and the friendships made along the way. Abby also plays netball and has been selected for the Waikato Magic Development Squad. Abby thanked the Rotary club members for helping with some financial support, which was greatly appreciated.

Michelle Tanner thanked Abby and reiterated how important and appreciative we as members are, when  someone we have helped, comes back and shares their experiences with us. Great work Abby.   ðŸ˜Š

Keep smiling and have a great weekend.😊
