Good evening and welcome from Vice President Lynette Stanley. President David, not too good with his eye affliction. We wish him well. Farm Watch: in David's absence, plenty of rain ! and lots of grass. My Mitre 10 , footings poured last week, walls put up this week. This is our last meeting night for 2018. Lynette gave some Christmas origins. How electric Christmas tree lights eventually replaced dangerous candles, how Santa Claus/Father Christmas came to be in folklore, Mince Pies, Xmas Crackers and Xmas stockings.

Matamata Has Got Talent
Jazz Vidamo , 9 years of age.
Our Club welcomed 9 year old Jazz Vidamo, with her Mum Leigh. They were invited to speak to us, as they had approached Rotary Matamata if they would consider some financial support for Jazz to represent Matamata and New Zealand; at the World Championship of Performing Arts 2019, Hollywood, USA. Leigh Vidamo said they have been in New Zealand 6 years, Jazz is year 5 at Matamata Christian School. As a 5 year old Jazz watched in awe at young performers on Britain and America Got Talent shows, from that wanted to do opera and other musical songs. So as a 9 year old to date, has been successful in New Zealand auditions and has already gained excellent results in those. She is also to meet with Dame Malvina Major for advice and help to progress her talent. The World Championship of Performing Arts, is the 'Olympic Games' equivalent for Jazz to participate in , and who is now the Official "Black Star" NZ Delegate to this Hollywood venue 2019 competition. Five category's have to be sung, but only one minute excerpts from each one. Not on one day, but for several times if not more during the Championship. Leigh and Jazz have to raise $17000.00 to attend the Championship in July next year. So far they have raised $2000.00. A concert has been arranged for Saturday March 23rd 7pm at the Matamata Bible Church, obviously more fund raising projects are going to have to be arranged. WELL, those members who were absent tonight missed a really good representative of our Matamata younger person community; that present themselves to our Club from time to time.. Her three items sung to the time requirements that will be expected at the Championships, were quality stuff especially being only 9 years of age. Members certainly made it known they appreciated her performance, which also highlighted her obvious enjoyment to perform to our assembly. Directors will consider their request for financial consideration, in January.
Mum Leigh Vidamo and her very talented Matamata young daughter , Jazz Vidamo.
