Evening all, welcome. What a fantastic spell of weather, unless you are a farmer. Special occasion last weekend, with the marriage of our daughter, which also supported by fine weather. Great venue, "Young people doing good stuff". Which is contrary to my part investment in a race horse, Trainer givesome thought as to when the next race will be. To me, seems the race was 200 metres tooooo long! Farm Watch: Been mating for a week, just the district average of 27% of the herd put up so far, 12% of the herd treated with 'seeders'. A progesterone slow release hormone that encourages  corpus luteum and ovum discharge from the ovary. 60% in calf rate expected, and does have a cost to do. But it  supports that all important 'days in milk'. Do need a nice rain now, no rain last week.24 day rotation, pasture average cover 2350 kgs/dm/ha, growing 74kgs/dm/day, but that will drop it no rain soon. Chickory Crop has germinated, but will need some rain to get it really going places!
Tim Hampton, Guest Speaker. A Matamata lad, and obviously very proud of that fact. His disciplined enthusiasm and focussed  effort on advancing his skill set, for his business continuity of considered successful growth; has to be applauded. One could say, already an entrepreneur.

Tim Hampton, Matamata Digital, Luminate-one and Career Central introduced by Brian Hunter. Tim thanked Rotary for the invitation to speak, and his parents known to many. Matamata Intermediate and Matamata College. Showed on power point some family photo's that showed an interest in electrical cords !!! at 4 years of age. With that passion on flowing with 2001 at Intermediate school, help unpacking their first Imax Computer. 2009 soldering up his first solar panel, last lasted two years before water damage. keen on electronics at College, and a talent for audio sound at our local amateur theatre, which he enjoyed. University swas him involved in 'Chat Box', correlating data for safety aspects for surfing. Had enough of three years at University with a Degree. 48 hour Cyber Hacking competition (controlled environment) was enlightening, Plus a few other techie challenges he was part of, including the initial development of Career Central. Wanting to achieve a niche technology business, started in 2013 and built Matamata Returned Services  Club Web Site. A few more opportunities to do a few more , led him to form his fledgling company Matamata Digital. His desire to set up in Matamata, not only because it was his town, but geographically situated to many main centre's plus ideal for a 'solid base'. Tim explained the three main elements of his business structure, plus a recent fourth. "Matamata Floor Space" More to do with sub leasing some of the floor space surplus to his digital business requirements.
Currently 15 staff, and still actively recruiting. The present age of his staff average 24 years of age. Generation Z , and quotes Deloitts as these are also referred to as millennials. Who accept their jobs will change, 45% move on to other jobs after 2 years, but are motivated. Like a positive workplace, flexibility and location plus able to continue learning and  Remuneration in that order. In finishing, Matamata Digital is a Full Service Website Design Company. From $120 to an average of $2500. Their first as a company was a majoe website build for Matamata I-Site. One Website they also manage is for 'Little Bit Yummy' for advice and food ingredient possibilities  for sufferers of irritable bowel syndrome, Web site attracts 132000 visitors a month and many times 180 'hits ' a second. Client base growing. Luminate-one , online business systems; A business aspect that has grown quickly and seeking more staff for that right now. Career Central, a career management plan for secondary schools. First full 5 year cycle of students, prove this is a successful career management plan for students. Interesting data from this first cycle, is some students original thoughts when first engaged with this programme; actually then followed another career path upon leaving school. Career Central is managed 24/7 by his staff. Appreciated being chosen to host Prime Minister Ardern  recently, as her government wishes to support business growth for small towns. Tim in finishing noted that the digital industry, due to the evolution of advancing technologies, require basically the requirement to relearn  all over again and update skills .Which does support the observation of burn out, even only after 10 years in this type of business Also said "It is a challenge to attract suitable staff to Matamata, especially  with the  tight accommodation, affordable homes and rentals availability right now". Matamata needs to grow, hopefully the 'Powers that be' will promote that. Peter Thissen Thanked Tim for the insight into his business, plus Peter explained his first experience with a computer.at a rather mature age!!

'What Inspired Me' ..an observation on Tim Hampton
From a 4 year old, electrical cords, extension cords, television cords--was absolutely fascinated with them!! Then 2001 helping unpack Matamata Intermediates' new Imax Computer. Building a successful working solar panel 2009, then really got into computer stuff from Matamata College onwards. Yep, that humble electric extension cord seems the inspiration to where he is today, and no doubt the many tomorrow's.
