Evening and welcome, 20th century technology. Trying out another sound system tonight; for us to make comparison analysis between products on the market. Thank you Peter Thissen for a welcome drink for me, " I will have to see if I can arrange Club Host Duty, more often for you" !!! ha ha  Farm Watch: Although we have had recent heavy rain, the monitoring week saw 25mls, 44kgs/ha/day grass growth,82% cows in milk, rotation 30 days,12c soil temperature, Spring is just around the corner. Farm Watch is an average of farmer information inputs around this part of the Waikato. Some farms were close to 50kgs/dry matter/day grass growth and possibly a bit less than a 30 day grazing round, which I am on. My milking herd has 5.2ha of pasture per day, so important as grass growth rates ramp up; that we maintain pasture quality. So we aim for a 1500kgs/ha pasture residual after grazing an allocated area of the farm. Wet weather can hinder good practice pasture utilisation. Cows touch 2kgs/Milksolids/day, although that is helped by a bit of supplementary feed input; which is a cost.

Our Quiz master supreme, Jane Belton once again produced a good quiz challenge.  Team scores a bit closer this time, with two teams toping with the same score. A toss of a coin determined Rotary Grove got the Moro Bars and Kauri Grove got the Chocolate Fish.

'Who Has Inspired Me'.. Owen Westlake.
My Mum and Dad inspired me. Led by example. Gave a lot of time and energy to our family's community. Gave good input into many committee's for community good, Many a time my fellow siblings would go fishing with Dad, in a 12 foot 6 inch Sea craft boat powered by a 4 horse power Seagull out board motor. Fishing was many times plentiful, in the Hauraki Gulf.  So we kids would run up to houses on the way home, with a couple of fish for families to enjoy.  In my farming career, inspired by the likes of Ernest Nielson, my first Dairy Board Consulting Officer. Top dairy farmers  of their time around Matamata , Bill Diprose and Stan Hall who at that time were the best production wise in the country. That inspiration and constant reminder by a song  ' Do what you do well boy. do what you do do we-ell'  A simple philosophy song that Ned Miller recorded in 1965. Started my farming journey.
