President David welcomed everyone to our 2018 Christmas function. He was very appreciative of members concern for his shingles affected right eye, which gave him the legitimate opportunity "to be one eyed" on a few topics  ha ha !! Acknowledged Kevin Kent , as being Vice President Nominee." I am  half way through reign !!/ dictatorship !! or tenure of President, which has been a great experience to date. My office holders, members loyal support; that has made my role satisfying". Asked about a Farm Watch report. "From the farming perspective, could not be better, with  rain , warm conditions see us in good shape". Christmas is time for family, friendship time, wish you well and look forward to my next 6 months as President.
President David formally welcomes everyone

Vice President Lynette Stanley produced a bit of a fun trivia quiz about Christmas.
Members, partners & guests enjoyed themselves.
A special presentation was made during our evening.
Eric Muckle was called to the lectern, to make an announcement.
I have pleasure of introducing a Rotarian who joined Rotary Matamata in 2001. Although has held  office of Director of Foundation, has not held any other positions of responsibility within our Club. But let's not use this to judge the Character of the Man. When it comes to working bees or projects, you can be assured he will be a willing and able worker and see the project through to its conclusion. Easy going and good to talk to, it is hard to find a more congenial person.
Only a few years ago, he oversaw the project to provide Fiji a full container of used clothing, and household equipment for the families affected by a devastating cyclone.
He provided his excavator digger to cut a path on the Stanley Lane walkway project. This generous move meant a solution to a difficult task.
To his Church, he is a dedicated and faithful worker.
I can thoroughly recommend a Paul Harris Fellowship to a person, although sometimes inconspicuous is a brilliant example of the character of a Rotarian. Would you please welcome John Fernyhough PHF.
Members standing acclamation as John made his way to meet President David for presentation.
Well earned recognition for community service.
President David had the duty and Honour to present John with his Paul Harris Fellowship.
