Evening all! Welcome to Rotary. Nice to see Mike Farrell back with us. A big thank you to Vera and Own Farmilo, for hosting last weeks Bon-Fire BBQ at their farm. A great social concept, except the wind and rain curtailed things a bit. Also thanks Rob for a great BBQ meal. I have two boxes of unused fireworks, I am sure we will find an occasion to set them off. Nearly half way through my year of office, Lachie Duncan believes I have done well to get this far !!!! It is now my great pleasure as President Rotary Matamata , to induct my first new member into Rotary; Natalie Reeve. Farm Watch: Need some rain! growing 65kgs/dm/day, 25 day rotation, soil temp 17c and cows producing 1.9 kgs/ms/day. So in good shape at the moment. As we are off to Mimico shortly, brief reminder half year assembly next week, members should have received Rexine's email reference baking for the participants fund raising this Friday 23rd., for their 100km walk for Oxfam, March next year. Plus please consider the function invitation from Lions Matamata, to help celebrate their 60th Birthday.Called upon Jane Belton as to instructions for Mimico visit this evening.
President David Gasquoine performed the Rotary Induction Protocol for Natalie Reeve.

Miranda Thomson pins on the Rotary Badge.

Miranda Thomson , who proposed that Natalie Reeve be a Rotarian.  Presented a very interesting curriculum Vitae, that will certainly add value to Rotary Matamata. Another plus remarked on by President David " Natalie will certainly lower the average age of our Rotary Matamata Club membership". Welcome to Rotary Matamata,Natalie. Members acclamation followed.

We assembled at Mimico, (Matamata Industrial Machinery Company).   An  overview of the company presented by General manager  Chris Gray  supported by Managing Director Rex Davies. A family oriented company , who know who they are and why they do what they do. MIMICO sells, hires and services heavy machinery for the quarrying, mining, contracting, construction, recycling and forestry industries. MIMICO was established in 1989 as an indent parts supplier based in Matamata, New Zealand, then became NZ distributors of Moxy articulated dump trucks (ADTs), Hanomag bulldozers and compactors, and Masterskreen mobile screening plants. MIMICO is now the New Zealand distributor for Metso crushing and screening equipment, Kobelco Hydraulic excavators, Moxy Articulated Dump Trucks, Epiroc rock breakers and demolition equipment, Kawasaki Z7 wheel loaders, Dynapac construction equipment, Superior conveyors and wash systems, ZF transmission and drive components for construction equipment, Cesco concrete mixer bowls, and manufactures Lamella portable waste water treatment plants. MIMICO operates a modern heavy machinery workshop, parts store, adjoining offices and training facilities in Matamata. Sales and service branches are also located in Auckland and Christchurch, a distribution centre in Paraparaumu, as well as 15 service dealers across the country. The family business values it's Customers, shareholders and importantly their 100 plus staff. The philosophy of promoting top quality machinery, has led to the well earned customer respect of reliable gear, servicing and technical support.  Their main sphere of operationa is New Zealand and pacific Islands. He mentioned Fiji  was procuring their products as it is investing in its infrastructure, due to financial assistance from other world countries. Jane Belton showed us her responsibility in the company, that included a smart computerised  comprehensive parts inventory storage and retrieval. They take on four new apprentices a year, and always seriously consider people seeking employment that have a good work ethic. They support development of their employees to be highly trained, motivated so to ensure long term sustainable growth. Matamata is a big positive location to have their HQ ,  good staff, geographically placed for expeditious machinery, parts movements. Sheryl Ertel thanked Chris and Rex for their time to present to us a positive business profile, commitment to Matamata and provide employment and opportunity. NZ is one of the few countries that wash aggregate.
HiViz vest Chris Gray answered many  questions.

'Who Has Inspired Me'.. Richard Metcalfe.
Two people that inspired me. First was my teacher as a 11 year old in form 1, 1955,;Mrs Fitzsimmons. My school in Palmerston North was regularly flown over by  aircraft from nearby Ohakea Air force base. I would look up at those aircraft while at school in awe that sparked a bit of interest on flying. She encouraged me to concentrate on that interest "As it could be done". Mrs Fitzsimmons was also the first female in New Zealand to gain a Private Pilot Licence. I pursued that ambition, my first Airforce Flying Instructor Trevor Bland, was my second inspirational person. Was not long that I was flying a Vampire Jet over the very school I looked up from. He encouraged and pushed me to be part of 75 Squadron Vampire Wing. To this day, we hold the world record for a sixteen (16) fighter Jet formation  executing a loop manoeuvre in those Vampires. Great people in my life.
Richard Metcalfe flew more complex technology.
Some conjecture that President David was doing the Irish Jig, in regards to the Ireland win last weekend over the All Blacks. Guinness 4.1% alc.
Natalie Reeve, demur as ever delivering her first address to her fellow Rotarian  peers.

We are having a bake sale at Council on Friday next week (23 Nov) and I wondered, if you would like to support us with some baking we could sell? I could come collect it Thursday evening.
