Evening all.
David G gave his weekly Farm Watch update but Michelle missed it and Leo was unable to provide a summary worth printing! Michelle however was applauded when she finally arrived as she was covering for Stew in his short absence.
David G skitted to Sue about the size of his theme banner with Sue!

Sue is President of the RC of Fairfield and has behind her a distinguished career in aviation. With a PhD in materials engineering and a love of flying she embarked on a career in aviation and was one of the first two female airline pilots in NZ.
At 33 years of age she took the position at Prestwick, Scotland of Assistant Project Manager on the British Aerospace Jet stream 31 development and later was promoted to Project Director for the next generation JetStream 41.
Sue described the process of project development and the massive workload she had working 80-100 hours/week over several years. She showed several videos including the official rollout of the JS41 in front of the Queen and Prince Phillip, and the JS41's first test flight. Sue was beaming from ear to ear as she watched this. It obviously still gives her a thrill.
In 1992 disaster struck when two pilots in her small team died in a JS31 test flight crash. This impacted Sue severely and was the beginning a a decline into serious health issues which took years to resolve and ended Sue's career in aviation.
Sue is now busy with an art-based career and her presidency of the RC of Fairfield.

Interesting note: most of the questions came from the ladies!

Our own aviation expert Richard thanks Sue for her fascinating talk.
All my own work!! The JetStream 41

'Who Has Inspired Me'..
Kevin Kent's turn this evening. Kevin was inspired by the unconditional love of the father in the Bible story about the return of the prodigal son. Kevin received unconditional love from his parents and is inspired to do what he can to, in turn, love his family in the same way.
Kevin and David G both commented on the range of inspirations members have shared.

                          Parting thought from Richard

"Most gulls don't bother to learn more than the simplest facts of flight - how to get from shore to food and back again. For most gulls it is not flying that matters but eating. For this gull though, it was not the eating that mattered but flight. More than anything else, Jonathan Livingstone Seagull loved to fly."
Richard Bach from Jonathan Livingstone Seagull
