Great to see the friendship rapport with the memberships of all the service clubs that benefit the Matamata Community. Bruce Magan thanked the meeting assembly, to be able to speak to the tripartite group on matters that  drive Matamata Futures Trust.
Matamata Trustees were introduced by Don Stanley, who gave a brief history on how and why Matamata Futures Trust Incorporated Society was established in 1989. The year of the significant change in local government in New Zealand, that established a three tier regime of Central Government, Regional Governance and District Governance. Matamata Futures were able to secure the sale proceeds of the sale of the then, Matamata Maternity Hospital. Doing community good with the support of the community human resource such as a new information centre and Railside. But as their vision to really get fit for purpose community facilities coincided with the bureaucracy industry growth that has now part and parcel of todays local government. Trustee Frank Healey was invited to attend a Matamata Futures meeting about 20 years ago, could not help feel the passion of the Trust in growing our Town. Frank is also now contributing his efforts to see Matamata."A thriving growing place". Trustee Rose Carnaghan spoke on other trust initiatives such as, Railside, Community children's Dental Facility at Firth School, the tree lights on Broadway and Pohlen Hospital new wing. Lynette Stanley as a Board of Trustee of Matamata College, the unselfish financial commitment Bruce Magan was willing to pledge, to achieve a fit for purpose correctly sized indoor multi sport stadium for the youth of Matamata. That pledge is lodged with Matamata Futures Trust. Lynette outlined the inadequate design, low seismic building score, and health and safety guidelines compliance. Matamata-Piako District Council (MPDC) gazette their Long Term Plan (LTP) this week. There is already a $2m fund appropriation for a possible Matamata Stadium, She urges many Matamata people to submit to that LTP, first to keep that fund in the plan and actually commit that fund towards a community partnership funding for an international standard layout for several sport codes indoor sports stadium. Bruce Magan passion for his town very apparent in his pertinent comments. Supported the comment MPDC spending $1.5m in the interim to patch up Matamata Headon Stadium just does not "Cut the Mustard" ."Too short, too narrow, too  low". "Funding due to bureaucracy is a challenge, frustrating and difficult". My commitment to stick with this challenge is "What can I do to repay my community that has been good to me". Indoor Basket Ball is the fastest growth sport at this very moment. Long way to get it on the road, doable! 2020 could be the vision to open a new stadium. Structure of community funding in the spring is work in progress. Actual location will have a community input, Domain, Swap park are just two possible sites. Frank Healey finished the presentations by urging as many Matamata people to read the MPDC LTP especially the Matamata segments, and  submit to the LTP. Support us.
David Wheadon thanked the Trustees for their commitment to serve Matamata district, and the leadership to establish fit for purpose facilities in our town.
