"Evening all",  but the strong social feature of our Club with members deeply in social camaraderie conversation, took a short while to give full attention to President David. Welcome to Rotary, a special welcome to our guests from Rotary Cambridge. David Blewden and Gordon Calder, our guest speakers will be formally introduced later in this meeting. Thank you for last week, good turn out. Q and A part very informative. A good turn out also for Audrey Langlands funeral last Friday. Unfortunately, you don't hear of an individuals contribution to our community, until their funeral. Farm Watch: grass growth 79kgs/ha/day,%98.5 cows in milk, producing very well,28 day rotation. Encourage some time out, after the physical and mental demands of calving, so to be 'on the ball' for mating. For soon, we must aim for a top result of mating management, not an average result. Cows need to be on good nutrition quality pasture. By request, President David was asked to briefly outline his elected duty, as Chair of Fonterra Shareholders Honorarium Committee. Emphasised, that committee does not review directors performance.
Kym Bolton-Hampton (L) and Sue Hancock. Matamata College Career Advisors extraordinaire
David Wheadon formally introduced Kym and Sue to our meeting assembly. Supported by power point screen projection, Sue thanked our Club for the invitation to speak. Sue explained her role. Sets career goals, career management competences. For example: Year 9 & 10 --Awareness. Year 11--Opportunity awareness. Years 12 &  13 Decide on action. Plus concurrently the delivery of career management awareness in regard to the school curriculum that is appropriate for year 9,10,11 12 and 13 students. Which is so well supported by 'Career Central' student profiles, they input to. Such information is confidential and secure to the student and career advisors, but is an accepted concise reference to prepare Curriculum Vitae. Sue proud of the fact, 'Career central.school.nz' , is a successful initiative of Matamata College staff to create; which is now also used by 60 school college throughout New Zealand. Kym spoke on her involvement with 'Gateway'. The 'vehicle' that exposes students to the work place environment in real time, as they progress through the Matamata College career of choice pathway. Which also includes learning on how to compile a CV( Curriculum Vitae) , when in Yr 12  senior education classes, they also have presentation representatives  from our many various industries that make New Zealand successful on the world scene. In that college year 12 , they also do a 'Myers and Briggs' self assessment.Year 13 students are more aligned with further education possibilities, and so get pertinent tertiary institutions speak to them on possible way forward,as to their future direction. Kym also oversees Gateway Career Pathway Evenings, that both student and parents/caregivers must attend together. As career opportunity support is most important , no matter what academic ability. Some very good questions came from the floor, that really showed the passion, knowledge of their chosen positions and honest observed  commitment to support students journey to a chosen career path. Some answers included the unfortunate but low incidence of absences from college, supported by their parents/caregivers. Not the role model that supports being a useful member of society. Lyn Dobbe thanked our guest speakers for a very informative presentation m and great ambassadors for Matamata College. Lyn added a personal endorsement to our speakers endeavours, on the positive encouragement through their career support  at Matamata College, for her son; who is now a qualified engineer.

'Who Has Inspired Me' .. Peter Vossen.
Actually, I get inspired everyday. There are many inspirational people in our community right now. My parents immigrated to New Zealand 1959, had their honeymoon on the sea voyage from the Netherlands; and pursued a dairy farming career. So being brought up on a dairy farm by inspirational parents taught me to be inspirational to my children. Yes, my parents, certainly inspired me.

  • All Committee Meeting Minutes are able to be viewed by members accessing our Web Site. Link ID is clearly shown at the bottom of this bulletin. Certainly a lot of energy going into all committees, which their respective meeting minutes clearly show. Editor Suggests of  having a look at those.
  • Reference or guest speakers presentation..( This bulletin editor knows several now retired industry leaders that suffer from dyslexia, and like deaf, blind and amputees have to develop personal skills to compensate for that. They have no option, but to be practical  people to  succeed in life, and they do).
