Annual General Meeting evening

Chaired by President Peter Vossen this weeks meeting was dedicated to the formal business of the AGM. Our five Committee Directors David Gasgoine (Administration), Lynette Stanley (Rotary Foundation), Mike Farrell, absent report presented by Peter Vossen, (Membership), Owen Farmilo (Service Projects) and David Parker (Public Image) summarised the work of their committees and thanked members for their contributions. The Leukaemia Trust and Alex Findlater Trust (managed by Matamata Rotarians) reports were presented by Eric Tanner and Kevin Sing respectively.

Finally Peter Vossen presented his Presidents report. A few points.

Peter wanted his year to be locally focused on acknowledged the work that saw the completion of the Stanley Farm Walkway, out District Grant project this year. On this project special thanks went to; Kevin Sing, Don Stanley, David Wheadon, Robert Stuart and Owen Farmilo.
Peter thanked his Directors, as above, and Michelle Tanner (Immediate Past President), Miranda Thomson (Treasurer) and David Johnson (Secretary), and Robert Stuart for an excellent programme of speakers this year and Stuart Wadey for, very prompt, bulletins. Michelle was also thanked for stepping in for Stu and David J while they take leave.

Peter emphasised he wanted a year of "Fun, Friendship and Fellowship" and I think we would agree he has achieved that.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards

We all love to see our youth grow through Rotary programmes. For Lyn this was especially true recently when her niece, Morrinsville News reporter Antonia Carter participated in this years RYLA. Included in Antonias comments were:
"After finishing high school I have found leadership opportunities few and far between. I haven't had the chance to take part in something as comprehensive like RYLA for a long time." and

I’ve come away from RYLA with a whole new outlook on leadership and would recommend the programme to anyone wanting to extend their own skill set.

We look forward to hearing  how our own RYLA candidate Rhys Robinson got on in the new Rotary year.

Lynette receives flowers to celebrate the 5th anniversary of joining Rotary.
David Gasgoine participated in a rural event and learnt that his iPhone is 400 million times more powerful than the computer on Apollo 11 which made up 1/10th of the weight of the space capsule!! (I wonder if he learnt anything about farming??)

ClubRunner app

Ever been out and about and needed to contact a Rotarians but did not have their number in your phone. Well, if you have the ClubRunner app you will be 'saved'. David H recently 'found' this app and wanted to share it's usefulness with members. Taken from Michelle's one, here you can see the sort of information you can access. You can find this, and other Rotary apps in your Android and Apple app stores.

Thinking of Don

We were saddened to hear that Don is in Waikato Hospital with pneumonia-like illness. He is better but not 'out of the woods'. Don would be pleased to have visitors but please keep any visits short. Thinking of you Don and wishing you a very speedy recovery.
