Peter welcomed guests Kaja Fjeldsǽeter and Birgit Fjeldsǽeter from Norway, and Inner Wheels ladies. To which Peter and members applauded, a very nice desert choice this evening. Possibly the right way to celebrate the anniversary of the first Rotary meeting, 23rd February 1905;113 years ago. Peter’s introduction theme this evening was “Rotarians at Work”.  Very pleased the opening of Stanley Farm Lane was a success. “Rotarians at Work”. Michelle Tanner featured in the latest Rotary Down Under Magazine, about her Polio eradication endeavours. A Global Challenge.
“ Rotarians at Work”. Fellow Rotorua Peers collecting donations at a fund raising concert for a charitable cause, “Rotarians at Work”. “Strength and Determination for good work in our communities, must be in our DNA”. (Deoxyribonucleic acid, is the hereditary material in humans). “Helping, giving is for us; a common goal”. Concert by the Lake,11 days to go. Tickets sales, need to be on our very own personal agenda. Make it happen! Show Case our very own concert show piece. Again “Rotarians at Work”.
Club Night fun topic:-------------
'How we met our other half !!!!'
Miranda Thomson and Rene
24th February, is the date I went with friends to the Redoubt. Matamata race day , everyone nicely attired  Miranda Happened to make comment to a rather scruffy individual as she entered the Redoubt,  to a guy in a grubby shirt, in fact all his clothing was dirty looking!! I said, "your not appropriately dressed to be in this establishment !!'. As she walked by. Later this same guy, nicely asked for my phone number. He looked honest so I did. he later rang my number , just to make sure it was MY number. I accepted an invitation to his home for a coffee, NO Cups , no nothing. which led to dinner in Tauranga. things blossomed from there. Now married 5 years.

I am sure these Rotarians have a story too
Stew Wadey and Margaret
Stew started his story of how he met Margaret, by saying their cupid Colleen Duxfield funeral was last Wednesday. Colleen and Doug Duxfield were my employers way back in 1976, and were deeply involved in Scouting. Inevitably I soon became a Scout Leader. Colleen arranged with my co Scout leader Ray a blind date with his Sister in Law, so  with Ray and his Helen , Margaret and me went off to a function at Te Rapa racecourse. Where at, on the dance floor I nearly got beat up by another rather inebriated female. All over what is in a Haggis, and what it is encased in. So Margaret and I met on a blind date, and 39 years married this May.

No doubt, many romantic stories as well,

  •  Henry Clothier Doing well, has had one procedure and another to follow.

"If we as a club do not take the lead the tickets sales, then do we continue with this show piece event"? 800 ticket sales is the target to attain, to make all the hard work to create a good venue and engage top line artistes worth while. 30 maps of Matamata have been printed,  members are helping to do a letter box drop. Wade Linnell , in charge of Corporate Gazebos has a very informative pamphlet that clearly shows how well these corporate sites will be exclusively serviced during the concert. Working bee Saturday 9am, to get the venue set up.

It is not magic, to find a proxy person to cover a gazetted duty.

Kevin Kent our club attendance officer is finding it a regular occurrence of members, who have a gazetted club night duty apologise for not attending the meeting. BUT do not arrange a member proxy to cover their duty.  Kevin  does appreciate members endeavours to arrange  'stand ins' for their absence.

What are you smiling about, Sandra Hunter QSM.
Yesterday morning, normal ablution routine except for one thing! In and around town in the morning, even stopped and spoke to Lindsay Tisch QSO. Then realised she had her printed T shirt inside out ::: all morning!!!! only the Marks & Spencer tag and seam structure visible. So that and viewing photographic proofs of recent family sittings ,especially her grandchildren makes for one big smile. Make that miles of smiles.
